Membership and Orientation Committee

Here's some information about this committee:

·         Welcome new members and provide a voluntary orientation. E.g. post to database, post to e-mail, review of bulletin boards, Job files, etc.

·         Work with PSG members providing leadership and confidence while guiding them to utilize resources available.

·         Acquaint members with other PSG Committees.

Charter of Operation

Organization:

Chairperson – Conducts formal meetings, reconciles all issues in the committee, presents the Committee report to the Moderator, Convenes and chairs all Committee Principal meetings.

Leader –Serves as 2nd in authority for activities in the committee assuming the Chairperson duties when necessary.  Presents the committee report to the PSG group, plans and executes the committee activities. Ensures the objectives of the committee are planned and executed to achieve maximum fulfillment.

Administrator – Serves as 3rd in authority.  Records and Collects information relative to members’ activities and participation within the group such as the committee Roster, attendance and committee tasks.

Members – serve to participate and execute activities agreed to by the committee to advance the purpose of the group.

Scope of Operation:

The scope of the Membership Committee shall be to aid and assist PSG members to ensure the members are comfortable in their knowledge of the PSG facilities.  The Committee will formulate and disseminate information to the PSG group members and followup to ensure that each member has the necessary tools to conduct an effective job search.  The Membership Committee will provide assistance to PSG members on a voluntary basis.  Additionally the organization of Membership Committee programs and instruction to facilitate Membership operations shall be within the scope of the Membership Committee.

Purpose:

The purpose of the Membership Committee is to:

·         Provide encouragement and guidance to those in need and motivation to 4 month and longer members.

·         Reviews job search plans of PSG members and offers assistance.

·         Identify opportunities in Job training for membership.

·         Develop a refined methodology that can be transcribed as a guide to assist PSG members.

·         Propose programs and modifications that will entice members to participate in membership activities to procure a job.

·         Report on the progress and effectiveness of the Membership Committee within the PSG group to PSG membership.

Objective:

The objective of the Membership Committee is to:

·         Develop a support program that will encourage and motivate the PSG members to avail themselves of PSG resources and programs in their job search.  Report on the effectiveness of the program.

Plan:

·         PSG Membership Committee members will welcome new members and provide a voluntary orientation (ie:  post to database, post to e-mail, review of bulletin boards, Job files, etc.).

·         Work with PSG members providing leadership and confidence while guiding them to utilize resources available.

·         Acquaint members with other PSG Committees.

·         Make progress report of activities and initiatives to the PSG group.

·         The Principals at their first meeting shall review and revise this document.

Meetings:

Membership Committee shall meet semi-monthly on the second and fourth Thursday of the month.

The Agenda shall be: Attendance, Old business, welcome of new committee members and general PSG members, Review of membership mentoring assignments and new assignments, Communication of membership information received, Other Membership activities, Plans for next meeting, Summary, Dismissal.

Membership Committee Principals shall meet as determined at least monthly.

Principals shall discuss and review plans, progress, reports and address member activities, events, initiatives, document or charter changes, personnel and assignments.

Reports:

A monthly report shall include a summarization of Findings, Actions, and Adherence to plans, accomplishments and New Plans.

Comment:

The Principals and membership shall periodically review this outline and make affirmations and modifications on a semi-annual basis.
